Mustang High School’s Jonathan McCorvey delivered on the big stage Saturday, winning the Class 6A boys 110-meter hurdles and breaking a 46 year state record at the 2026 OSSAA 5A/6A Track and Field State Championship at Western Heights High School.

McCorvey came into the state meet as one of Oklahoma’s premier hurdlers and proved it when it mattered most. After running 13.94 seconds in Friday’s prelims, the Mustang sophomore came back in Saturday’s final and crossed the line in 13.80 seconds to claim the state championship and set a new state record for the event.

The win adds another major achievement to an already strong season for McCorvey. Earlier this spring, MileSplit listed him among Oklahoma’s top boys 110-meter hurdlers with a season-best 14.10 from the Southern Oklahoma Invitational, one of the fastest marks in the state this season.

McCorvey set the new state record for Class 6A state meet in the 110 hurdles after beating a time of 13.86, set in 1980, McCorvey’s championship performance places him atop the state’s top hurdle talents and gives Mustang another state title in a standout 2026 track and field year.

For Mustang, it was another championship moment. For McCorvey, it was another step forward in what is already becoming one of the most exciting hurdle careers in Oklahoma high school track.
