I asked Mustang High School boys basketball player Andrew (Drew) Reynolds some question to get to know him and see if he would like to participate in my Senior Athlete Spotlight Series and he agreed. Let’s get to know 6’3 Senior, Andrew (Drew) Reynolds #1 guard at Mustang High School in Mustang, OK.

  1. Hello I’m Andrew (Drew) Reynolds and I play basketball for Mustang high school. I have been playing basketball since elementary school.

  2. What first inspired me to get started in basketball was my dad. At a young age he just always made sure there was a basketball in my hand and since then I never wanted to let go.

  3. My favorite part about competing in basketball is how it brings so many people together to play the sport we all love, making life long friends that share the same goal and ambitions as you, and of course the satisfaction of winning.

  4. I would say my favorite and most memorable moment of my athletic career so far would be the game against Norman North this year where I hit 7 3s in the first quarter and having that level of confidence.

  5. My training routine during the season and offseason don’t differ much. I’m in the gym the same amount getting up a ton of game like shots and building my endurance so fatigue doesn’t play a factor in my game.

  6. The biggest challenge I have faced as an athlete would be during my junior year we struggled as a team and I thought as a leader I wasn’t doing enough. I was told my numerous people that they could tell I was doing everything I could but we still weren’t going anywhere. I had to adapt to being more of a communicator and learning that different people take constructive criticism differently.

  7. Being a teammate to me means a lot in the fact that if my teammate is succeeding, I’m succeeding with him and vice versa. I try to be the teammate that everyone wants to play with and be  on the same team as because they know that I’ll encourage, teach, and motivate them. As being a leader, it means much more to me because that means the younger kids who are going to build the program after me are learning and looking after what I do at all times.

  8. I wouldn’t say there is any individual that I looked up to and influenced me but there were many people I watched growing up to mimic their game and see what moves worked and what I could try to put into my game. There are definitely some mentors/trainers of mine that I would give high thanks to because of how hard they pushed me and how much of my potential they brought out of me at a young age.

  9. Some interest and hobbies I have outside of basketball is that I like to golf with my friends from my old school. It helps me stay in touch with them and hangout while also keeping that competitive edge on the course.

  10. My goals after high school for sports is to play somewhere collegiately and continue my academic career for 4 years. I’m still unsure of where but that decision should be made at the end of March. As for in life, I’m hoping that through college classes and courses that I figure out what I want to pursue in my life and what area of workforce I want to get into.

  11. Some advice that I would give to some younger athletes just starting basketball would be to never let one game or one shot affect how you play. It’s always about how you react to adversity and focusing on the next play. Basketball is a mental game so once you realize that then it’ll slow down for you.

  12. My favorite food is these chicken enchiladas that my mom makes. For meals, I would definitely say a classic chicken sandwich meal from chick fil a. Can’t ever go wrong and it’ll never disappoint.
