Myriad Convention Center Skybridge Demolition
The skybridge connecting Prairie Surf Studios, formerly the Cox Convention Center and Myriad Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City is coming down.
The demolition of the skybridge is the beginning of the exterior demolition of the building to make way for the construction of the new Paycom Center which is the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The building opened as the Myriad Convention Center in 1972 and hosted decades of high profile events including an Elvis Presley concert, Billy Graham Crusade, legendary Harlem Globetrotters, NHL Hockey games, to former president visits, carnivals and conventions.
Sheridan Avenue will be closed the week of June 9th to demolish the Skybridge connecting the former convention center to the Wyndham Grand Hotel and take down the north walls of the building. The building was known as the Myriad Convention Center from 1972-2002, Cox Convention Center from 2002 - 2021, and Prairie Surf Studios 2021 - 2024. I worked in the building from 2002-2017 as part of the guest relations, security and operations teams.
Demolition of the skybridge over Sheridan Avenue began June 9, 2025 to mark the start of exterior demolition of the former Myriad Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City.
